The boys (Jaylen Nelson, Daniel Brent, Slate Rucker, Evan Brooks) and girls (Angelina Williams, Sarah Elkins, Arianna Fletcher, Liyah Nelson) 4X100 relay teams won State Champion titles taking gold, the boys in school record time. Evan Brooks was State Champion winning gold in the 100-meter dash. Liyah Nelson (State Champion) and Sarah Elkins (State Runner-up) delivered a 1-2 punch winning gold and silver in the 100 and 200-meter dashes. Liyah set a school record in the 200.
Other school records fell too. Rachel Baker won Bronze with a school record performance in the javelin. Jaylen Nelson placed 4th in the 110-meter high hurdles breaking his record he set earlier in the preliminaries. Finally, the boys 4X800 meter relay (Drew Blackston, Luke Reavis, David Matthews, Garrett Parvin) crushed their previous record finishing sixth. Other medal winners included Slate Rucker's Bronze in the 200 meters in personal record time.
Both teams battled hard. The boys finished third out of 33 scoring teams. The girls scored more points again than the boys but finished fourth out of 28 scoring teams. Only four points separated 2nd thru 4th places. The 5A boys team title difference was only 0.70 points.
